Background
Employee recruitment and retention is a key issue for this organisation. CPP had implemented a fixed package of benefits including a pension option and some life cover. However, take up rates were poor and there was a desire to boost coverage and leverage maximum value from the investment. Their aims were to:
- Create an attractive and comprehensive flexible benefit package to improve recruitment success and attract good quality people at all levels
- Use the flexible benefit package as a differentiator
- Improve retention
- Increase the take up rates of benefits
Key facts
- 1,500 employees, UK listed business
- Objectives - implement and develop a flex benefits package to support recruitment and retention
- Mazars Employee Benefit services – scheme design, benefit provider selection, employee communication, implementation support, customised on-line technology solution
- Client since 2001
Our solution
Working with Mazars Employee Benefits, a radical flex plan was designed to provide each employee with total control over the shape of their benefits package. No core elements were included and a wide range of benefits listed from which employees can choose.
The solution was rolled out with providers' open days and employee presentations, backed up by a written campaign using the internal e-mail system. The new benefits menu offers a wide range of choice covering pensions, life cover, critical illness, annual leave buying and selling, health screening and travel insurance.
The launch team were delighted with the response from employees and the flex plan has continued to grow in popularity ever since.
Key benefits
- Employees now have access to on-line benefit information and an improved appreciation of value - take up rates are now at nearly 90%.
- The enrolment process is automated and employee driven meaning less time is being spent on administration.
- Management has full access to benefit information and can analyse benefit trends and take up rates.
