Scheduled maintenance from 6pm Friday 16th December

As part of our policy of continuous improvements we need to perform some scheduled maintenance to the data centre this weekend. This involves disconnecting our services from the Internet from 6pm on Friday 16th December so that we can copy data between different servers, upgrade system software and test the changes. We hope to complete the process by noon on Saturday 17th December although there is a small chance that we will need to extend the down time further into the weekend.

We hope that this causes does not cause you any inconvenience.

    Temporary SSL certificate errors

Due to an error in a firewall configuration file that was updated over the weekend a few sites experienced access difficulties this morning. This was rectified within an hour and we apologise for any inconvenience caused.
    More details
Secure sites, those with a X509 certificate, require a unique IP address in order for the SSL protocol to work correctly. Over the weekend new secure sites were configured but we had to start using IP addresses from a new block that were not contiguous with the existing block. This meant that we had to change our firewall configuration manually (normally an automated process) and in doing this introduced an error which redirected some sites wrongly.
We have started work on a revision to our automated scripts to ensure that this error will not occur again.
